Description

Property availability: Available all year round

This is the mountain top home of the Newton-Johnson family, owners and winemakers of the internationally respected wines by the same name. Visitors will also be able to enjoy wine tasting and
a top chef experience at the estate restaurant. Chef would be negotiable for private functions as well.

The estate is located along a good tar road 9kms from Hermanus. The short journey passes through one of the best known wine making areas in the Western Cape — the names of Hamilton Russell and Bouchard Finlayson will be well known to wine aficionado’s.

The road winding to the property is a well maintained gravel track that any normal car can tackle without a problem. The sweeping mountain, valley and sea views in all directions are simply out of
this world and explains the name of the estate restaurant ‘Heaven’. With the distinction of being the highest home in Hermanus the views range across the bay from Danger Point in the East to Hangklip in the West. The property is surrounded by fynbos – the unique and smallest botanical classification in the world. Better known as reeds, protea’s and erica’s — the fynbos plants are shrub sized and occur in a variety of colours and forms. The area is a hiker’s delight and the location would suit those who like to be a little apart from the main throng.

The property is simple, spacious and elegant with barbeque facilities on the deck facing across the valley. The walls show some of the best original South African art and the furniture is often hand
made from precious indigenous woods by the owner.
